Good afternoon! With the winter weather heading our way this weekend, we wanted to update you on how we determine that lessons are offered or not. For all students, we use the public school district near you (Beaverton SD or Oregon Trail SD) and the closure lists are updated by 6AM at this link: https://www.oregonlive.com/weather/page/oregon_school_closures_delays.html
If your local school district is closed for the day or closed for evening activities, we will be as well. If there is a late start, we will be offering lessons as normal. For morning lessons, you'll receive notification from us IF we have to close no later than 9AM. For afternoon & evening lessons, you'll receive notification from us by 12PM if we must close. These are also the extended cut-off times for YOU to cancel and receive a make up credit.
For example: the school district is open but you live at a high elevation and can't make it due to the roads in your area. You must notify us by the the morning of your lesson that you need to cancel, and we'll over ride the normal make up policy. (Advance notice is always appreciated too!)
We highly encourage you to try an online lesson at your normal lesson time if you cannot travel. We offer live online lessons when we are open and/or closed due to road conditions. To opt in to an online lesson, reply to this email or contact us directly at info@maestromusiclessons.org and we'll send you the link. In order for your teachers to plan ahead, you still must notify us that you won't be arriving in person by 9AM for morning lessons or 12PM for afternoon & evening lessons. We will be unable to accept last-minute requests for make ups or online sessions received after this time.
Please keep yourself safe and warm this next week! I hope the snow comes this weekend and the roads are clear by Monday :)

Good morning! We follow school district weather closure schedule. As Beaverton SD is open today with no anticipated evening closures, we are also OPEN today in Beaverton.
If you live where the snow makes travel hazardous and you need to cancel, we’ll extend the cancellation period to 2 PM today. You MUST use the student portal to cancel so that your teacher is notified right away. We also offer online lessons from the comfort of your home; reply to this email by 2PM if you’d prefer an online lesson today.
Thank you & enjoy the snow!

Happy new year! Your teachers should have sent home the January newsletter at the beginning of this month. If you missed it or misplaced it, I’m attaching it here. We have a LOT of exciting events planned for this spring, from optional music events to the Spring Recital on May 4 with mandatory attendance, so please add these to your calendars. Looking ahead, we have a summer-camp filled summer and will be exploring Beethoven in the coming school year. PS Please be sure to bring back the signed welcome letter at your next lesson if one was sent home.
Musically yours,
Bonnie & Hayley

Hello and happy rainy Friday!
Just wanted to drop you a quick reminder that you have make up credits outstanding, probably from the holidays. There are lots of different ways to use your make up credits, from scheduling an extra lesson with your normal teacher to attending one of our special music events. You should have received the January newsletter this past week with all those dates listed, and we hope to see you at one! You can register for a music event, lesson with your teacher or another, and more by logging into the student portal and registering for the event of your choice. I'm also attaching that newsletter here for you in case you've misplaced it or want to forward an invitation to a friend.
Happy music making,
Bonnie
